Ants would form colonies and are very social insects. Their system works in a way that resembles like a castle (queen, drone and workers) with specific roles set out for them. They can be found anywhere whilst travelling to look for food. While mostly are just an annoyance to men, some are able to inflict pain through their stings and bites.
Different species of ants have different food preference which can vary from sweet-based to protein-rich, depending on their needs. A scent trail known as pheronmones would be released when a worker ant looks for food, thus leading other members to find their way to the source.
When the colony is over-populated, they will form a new one.
THE COMMON ANTS FOUND IN SINGAPORE ARE:

Residual spraying is an extremely effective treatment for homes as it is not harmful to humans and will not stain the walls or flooring. A pesticide non-toxic to mammals is sprayed at targeted areas acting as a chemical barrier, killing ants instantly upon contact.
